Our Team
Alex Dakas
Founder
Alex Dakas is a first generation Greek American born & raised in New York. Alex is an aspiring entrepreneur working at his family’s business, GESI Hospitality. Outside of his professional life, he pursues his love of fitness, helping others, & doing his best to bring positivity & inspiration to those around him.
After recently completing an Ironman Triathlon, Alex decided to dive deeper into the idea of ultra long distance endurance running; 100 miles & more. Through these feats of physical fitness, Alex dreamed of doing something great to give back to his community & make an impact in the world.
Following the news of his aunt Demetra’s diagnosis, Alex decided that this was not only the time to rise to the occasion & accept the challenge of a 101 mile run, but to also form Project 101 to give back to the women in his life who’ve given him their unyielding support throughout his life.
While on a recent run following the creation of Project 101, envisioning the finish line at the end of 101 miles, Alex said to himself: “Strength in every step. Hope in every mile.” These are the words that fuel Project 101.
Yianni Poulios
Co-Founder
Yianni Poulios, born and raised in Astoria, NY, is a first generation Greek American. Much like his parents, Yianni is a pillar of support to his loved ones in their time of need. Being raised Greek-American, the value of family and friends is a virtue that Yianni holds near and dear to himself.
On October 1st, 2024, Yianni’s mother, Demetra, was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. Breast cancer is a disease that has always affected Yianni’s life. Before Yianni was born Demetra’s mother passed away from breast cancer. 30 years later, Demetra is now fighting her own battle against breast cancer.
